The 2027 feng shui year runs from Lichun (4 Feb 2027, 09:46 UTC+8) to Lichun (4 Feb 2028, 15:31 UTC+8) in the solar calendar. The year pillar is 丁未 (Ding Wei, Yin Fire Sheep). It is the fourth year of Period 9 (九運, 2024-2043), the period currently shaping the macro-feng-shui era.

Lucky colours for 2027

Every year this is the most-asked question and the worst-answered one. Most “2027 lucky colour” lists give you one colour for the whole year based on the zodiac animal, which is not how colour works in feng shui. Colour is an element. Where you put an element matters more than which one you pick.

The year’s signature colours are purple and red. 2027 is a 丁未 Yin Fire Sheep year and the 9 Purple Fire star (九紫火星) sits in the centre — and 9 is also the reigning star of the current twenty-year cycle, Period 9 (九運, 2024–2043). Fire is the energy this year and this era both run on, so purple, red and warm tones are genuinely supported in a way they will not be again for a long time.

Now the part the colour lists get dangerously wrong. There are two places in your home where you should put no red or purple at all in 2027:

• The North holds the 5 Yellow (五黃), the year’s most severe affliction. 5 Yellow is an Earth star, and Fire produces Earth. Red and purple in the North feed the one thing you want quiet. Use white, gold, silver and grey — Metal drains Earth. Keep the sector still.
• The West holds 2 Black Earth (二黑), the sickness star, alongside the San Sha. Same element, same logic, same answer: white and gold, not red.

So the honest version of “2027’s lucky colour is purple” is: purple is the year’s colour, and the North and West are exactly where it will cost you.

• East — 7 Red Metal (robbery, betrayal). Despite the name, do not answer this with red. Blue and black — Metal produces Water, which drains it. Avoid adding more white or metallics.
• Northeast — 3 Jade Wood (conflict, lawsuits), doubled with the Year Breaker. Red and purple here, genuinely — Wood produces Fire, so Fire exhausts the argument star. The most afflicted sector in the chart is also the one place the year’s colour works hardest.
• North — 5 Yellow. White, gold, silver. No red, no purple, no earth tones, and as little disturbance as you can manage.
• West — 2 Black Earth. White and gold. Same reasoning as the North.

What this will not do. Wearing the right colour is the smallest lever in feng shui — it sits well below the direction your door faces, where you sleep, and what you renovated this year. Colour is worth getting right because it is free and reversible, not because it is powerful. If a page promises that a handbag colour will change your year, you are reading marketing, not feng shui.
