What Feng Shui Actually Is

Feng Shui is not
interior decorating.

Feng Shui (风水, literally "wind and water") is a 3,000-year-old Chinese system for reading the relationship between a building and the land it sits on. It is not about red front doors. It is not about money frogs on your desk. It is the classical art of siting, orientation, and Qi management — used in China for centuries to choose imperial capitals, position tombs, and lay out the homes of the literate elite. Most of what is sold as "Feng Shui" online is a stripped-down 1990s Western reduction. This course teaches the actual tradition.

Form School (峦头派)

The older of the two main schools. Reads the landscape itself — mountains, water, neighbouring buildings, the four celestial animals (Green Dragon, White Tiger, Red Phoenix, Black Tortoise) — to assess whether a site holds Qi or loses it. Form is what every classical text reads first.

Compass School (理气派)

Uses the Luo Pan compass to take precise sitting and facing directions and apply systems built on the Eight Trigrams, the 24 Mountains, and the Five Elements. Compass School is where Feng Shui becomes a precision instrument rather than an intuitive read.

Qi (气) — Living and Killing

Every Feng Shui assessment is ultimately a Qi assessment. Sheng Qi (生气, living energy) accumulates in well-formed sites; Sha Qi (煞气, killing energy) attacks them. The work is to identify both, encourage one, and remedy the other — not to decorate.

Ba Gua & Five Elements

The Eight Trigrams (八卦) and the Five Elements (五行) are the symbolic engines of Feng Shui — inherited directly from the I Ching. They are how the Compass School actually thinks about a space. Without them, every "remedy" is guesswork.

The Curriculum

Sixteen modules. Ninety-six lessons.
The complete classical foundation.

The course is structured the way the classical tradition is taught — principles before tools, tools before technique, technique before application. By the end of Module 16, you will be able to walk into any home or office and produce a structured, professional assessment.

The Methodology

Classical Feng Shui,
taught honestly.

"Feng Shui" has been one of the most diluted ideas in the wellness industry for thirty years. This course teaches the system that imperial geomancers actually used — Form before Compass, principles before objects, assessment before remedy — and refuses the magic-charm version that dominates the internet.

✦  This Course
Teaches both Form School (峦头) and Compass School (理气) — the integrated tradition
Built on the actual classical engines: Ba Gua, 24 Mountains, Five Elements, Yin-Yang
Hands-on Luo Pan operation — anatomy, readings, and exercises
A full six-step professional assessment method (Module 15)
Twelve real case studies — residential, commercial, problem properties
Closes with consultation structure, ethics, and integration with BaZi and Date Selection
✗  Most "Feng Shui" Content
Reduces Feng Shui to "where to put the money frog" or 1990s Western Bagua-on-floorplan
Ignores the Luo Pan entirely or treats compass directions as optional
Skips Form School — the school every classical text reads first
Sells "remedies" without ever teaching how to assess a site
No structured methodology — just isolated tips
No professional framework — no consultation structure, no ethics, no integration

Classical foundations.
Modern rigour.

I have spent over a decade dismantling the barrier between "ancient wisdom" and "modern logic." Since 2014, I have practiced Chinese metaphysics professionally, building a reputation for technical precision in BaZi (八字), Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗数), Qi Men Dun Jia (奇门遁甲), and classical Feng Shui — read for clients across Asia, North America, and Europe.

This masterclass exists because Feng Shui is the most public-facing branch of Chinese metaphysics — and the most misrepresented. Most "Feng Shui" content online is wellness-industry vocabulary stretched over 1990s Western Bagua templates. Almost none of it teaches Form School. Almost none of it teaches the Luo Pan. This course teaches both — the way the classical tradition has taught them for 1,500 years.

By the end of this course, you will not only understand Feng Shui — you will be able to operate a Luo Pan, run the six-step assessment method on any building, and structure a professional consultation that integrates with BaZi and Date Selection.

Professional metaphysics practice since 2014
Specialist in classical Chinese systems — BaZi, Zi Wei, QMDJ, Feng Shui
Featured expert in regional and international media outlets
Active consulting practice — residential, commercial, and corporate Feng Shui
Common Questions

Before you
commit.

Feng Shui (风水) is a 3,000-year-old Chinese system for reading the relationship between a building and the land it sits on. The two characters mean "wind" and "water" — the two forces that move and hold Qi in the landscape. Classical Feng Shui has two main branches: Form School (峦头派), which reads landforms, mountains, water, and surrounding structures; and Compass School (理气派), which uses the Luo Pan compass to apply directional systems built on the Eight Trigrams (八卦), the 24 Mountains, and the Five Elements (五行). The goal of every assessment is the same: identify where Sheng Qi (生气, living energy) accumulates, where Sha Qi (煞气, killing energy) attacks, and what to do about both.
No. The course is built from first principles. Module 01 starts with what Qi is, how Yin and Yang behave in space, and what the Five Elements actually mean — before you ever pick up a Luo Pan. If you have studied BaZi or another Chinese metaphysics system, you will recognize the underlying engines (Ba Gua, Five Elements, Yin-Yang) and move faster, but no prerequisite is required.
Both. Form School and Compass School are not competing approaches — they are two halves of the classical tradition, and serious practitioners use them together. Module 04 teaches Form School (the four celestial animals, mountain and water theory, landform assessment). Module 05 and Module 06 teach Compass School (the 24 Mountains, sitting and facing directions, the Luo Pan). Module 15 integrates them into a single six-step assessment method.
This masterclass teaches the foundational layer that every Compass School system is built on — the Luo Pan, the Ba Gua, the 24 Mountains, the Five Elements, and the principles of sitting and facing direction. Specific systems like Xuan Kong Flying Stars (玄空飞星), Ba Zhai Eight Mansions (八宅), San He (三合), and Xuan Kong Da Gua (玄空大卦) are taught as separate dedicated courses in the academy. Take this masterclass first; the system courses will then make sense rather than feeling like memorisation.
Yes — this is one of the few online Feng Shui courses that teaches the Luo Pan as a real instrument. Module 06 covers the anatomy of the compass (Heaven Pool, needle, the 24-Mountain ring), how to take an accurate reading, how to compensate for magnetic deviation, and includes practice exercises. By the end of Module 06 you will be able to take your own compass readings on a real building.
No. The "lay the Bagua on top of your floorplan with the career corner near the front door" method is a 1980s Western adaptation associated with Black Sect / BTB Feng Shui. It ignores the actual compass direction of the building, which is the foundation of every classical Compass School system. This course teaches the classical tradition — the Luo Pan, real compass directions, and the systems that depend on them — not the Western shortcut.
16 modules, 96 lessons, with twelve real case studies and a full six-step assessment walkthrough. A focused student can complete the material in two to three months; a careful student in five to six. There is no deadline. You have lifetime access. As with every metaphysics discipline, real fluency comes from practice on real buildings — the course teaches the framework that makes that practice productive.
Five concrete capabilities. (1) Read landform — assess the mountains, water, and surroundings of any site using Form School. (2) Operate a Luo Pan and take precise sitting and facing directions. (3) Run the six-step assessment method (Module 15) on any building and produce a structured written report. (4) Diagnose the most common Feng Shui problems and apply appropriate remedies. (5) Structure a professional consultation, including integration with BaZi and Date Selection (Module 16). The course is designed to make you a competent foundational practitioner, not just a Feng Shui reader.
Feng Shui Masterclass sits at the premium tier ($1,688 USD, one-time payment, lifetime access) alongside Forecasting Astrology — the two most asset-heavy programs in the academy. Both demand more visual and interactive material than the standard tier, both teach a complete professional methodology, and both directly underpin a paid consulting practice. The pricing reflects the depth of material, the breadth of the twelve case studies, and the commercial value of the skill set on the other side.
