2027 Annual Flying-Star Chart 2027 · 丁未

The 2027 annual flying-star chart in detail. Visual chart showing each star’s position, the central palace concentration, the four sha overlays, and how to read the chart against your home’s sectors.

Reading the 2027 flying-star chart

The 2027 annual flying-star chart is the central technical reference for the year’s Xuan Kong feng shui. This page presents the chart visualisation, explains how each star is computed, and shows how to apply the chart against a specific home.

How the chart is computed

The annual central star is calculated from the year digits:

  1. Reduce the year digits to a single number: 2+0+2+7 = 11 → 1+1 = 2.
  2. Subtract from 11: 11 - 2 = 9.
  3. Result: the central palace star for 2027 is 9.

From the central star, the rest of the chart fills in by applying a delta to the base Lo Shu pattern:

  • Base Lo Shu: SE=4, S=9, SW=2, E=3, C=5, W=7, NE=8, N=1, NW=6
  • Delta = central star - 5 = 9 - 5 = 4
  • Apply delta to each base value (mod 9, with 0 → 9): SE=4+4=8, S=9+4=13→4, SW=2+4=6, E=3+4=7, C=5+4=9, W=7+4=11→2, NE=8+4=12→3, N=1+4=5, NW=6+4=10→1
  • Result: the 2027 chart shown above.

How to apply the chart to your home

The chart maps to the eight directions of any home. To use it:

  1. Identify your home’s facing direction. The facing direction is the side of the home with the main qi intake — usually the front door or the largest collection of windows. Use a magnetic compass standing in front of the home.
  2. Divide the floor plan into the eight sectors plus centre. Use a 3×3 grid centred on the home’s geometric centre. Each cell of the grid corresponds to one of the eight directions plus the central palace.
  3. Look up which star occupies which direction in 2027. Use the chart above. The North-direction sector of your home holds Star 5; the Southeast-direction sector holds Star 8; etc.
  4. Note which rooms fall in each sector. A room may fall partly in two sectors if it spans the boundary — in that case, the larger portion determines the assignment.
  5. Apply the year’s guidance per sector. Use the dedicated sector pages for the practical reading of each direction in 2027.

When the chart changes

The annual chart is fixed from Lichun (Feb 4 2027) to Lichun (Feb 4 2028). Within the year, monthly charts overlay on top of the annual chart — the monthly central star changes each solar month, creating a secondary “monthly flying-star” pattern that can amplify or moderate the annual signal in specific sectors. See the 2027 overview for the monthly digest pages.

Annual Sha overview

Four classical sha govern the 2027 chart. Each is detailed in its own page; together they shape which sectors take disturbance taboos and which take orientation discipline:

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the 9-square grid method for sector assignment?

The 3×3 grid is a simplification used widely in modern feng shui practice. The classical method uses 24-mountain divisions (each of the eight directions further divided into three 15-degree sub-mountains), which gives finer resolution for homes with unusual orientations. For most rectangular suburban homes, the 3×3 grid is accurate enough; for irregular layouts, classical 24-mountain assignment with a professional audit is more reliable.

What if my home has a missing corner (L-shape)?

Missing corners are read as “the sector is structurally incomplete” in classical feng shui. The flying star for that sector still applies but with weaker effect. Beneficial stars in a missing corner are read as “potential not fully accessible”; afflicted stars are read as “affliction still acts but slightly reduced.” Homes with missing corners benefit from professional audit because the structural reading interacts with the year-chart in non-obvious ways.
