The 24 classical feng shui mountains (二十四山) crossed with the 8 personal kuas (八宅命卦) under Eight Mansions doctrine — 192 mountain-kua configurations describing how each compass mountain reads for each kua-classified person.
The 192 mountain-kua Eight Mansions configurations
This is the master directory for the 24 Mountains × Personal Kua Eight Mansions feng shui reference. The 360° compass is divided into 8 octants of 45° each (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW); each octant contains 3 of the 24 mountains, for a total of 24 mountains of 15° each. Personal kua doctrine sorts people into 8 trigram-based kuas (Kua 1 Kan through Kua 9 Li, no Kua 5), each kua belonging to either the East Life Group or West Life Group. The 192 cells (24 × 8) describe how each mountain reads for each kua under Eight Mansions doctrine.
Voice constraint: these pages name the configurations and describe the Eight Mansions register. They do not teach the procedure for taking a compass reading, computing personal kua from birth year and gender, or integrating with the Xuan Kong period chart. For chart-aware reading on your specific property, book a feng shui audit (residential) or house-hunt review (pre-purchase); for self-study, the Feng Shui Masterclass covers the full methodology.
⚠️ Why a generic Eight Mansions reading is not enough
A complete feng shui audit layers four inputs together; the mountain-kua reading is only the second:
Precise compass reading. Most properties don’t face cleanly on a single mountain — they sit at the 兼向 boundary between two adjacent mountains.
Mountain-kua compatibility. What this directory describes.
The Xuan Kong period chart (玄空飛星). Per build-year + facing direction.
Per-occupant kua + integration across all family members.
Use this directory as the second-input reference. The complete reading requires on-site compass measurement, the period chart, and full-occupancy integration — the audit skill consultation provides.

Each compass octant contains 3 mountains of 15° each. Mountains are typed: 12 are earthly branches (子丑寅卯辰巳午未申酉戌亥), 8 are heavenly stems (甲乙丙丁庚辛壬癸; 戊己 are excluded as Earth/centre), and 4 are trigrams (艮巽坤乾, the corner trigrams).

How to use this reference
Determine your kua from birth year + gender. (Most online kua calculators handle this; or your feng shui audit identifies it as part of the audit.)
Take a precise compass reading at the structural front of your property to determine which of the 24 mountains the property faces. If the reading sits at a 兼向 boundary, both adjacent mountains apply.
Look up the cell page for the matching mountain × kua. The cell describes the Eight Mansions baseline register.
Apply the four-input framework. Mountain-kua is the second input; the period chart and per-occupant integration require an on-site reading.
The 24 Mountains (二十四山) are the classical 15°-each segmentation of the 360° feng shui compass. Each of the 8 octants (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) contains 3 mountains, for a total of 24. The 24 are composed of 12 earthly branches (the zodiac branches), 8 heavenly stems (excluding 戊己 Earth/centre), and 4 trigrams (the corner trigrams 艮巽坤乾). Each mountain has its own polarity, element, san he (trine) groupings, and classical register; together they form the foundational compass system for Yin Zhai (grave) and Yang Zhai (residential) feng shui practice.
What is Eight Mansions feng shui?
Eight Mansions (八宅) is one of two principal classical feng shui systems (the other being Xuan Kong Flying Star). It sorts the 8 octants of the compass into 4 favourable + 4 unfavourable directions for each personal kua, with each direction carrying one of 8 classical assignments: 4 favourable (Sheng Qi 生氣, Tian Yi 天醫, Yan Nian 延年, Fu Wei 伏位) and 4 unfavourable (Huo Hai 禍害, Wu Gui 五鬼, Liu Sha 六煞, Jue Ming 絕命). Eight Mansions reads property facing, bed direction, stove direction, and door placement against personal kua. This directory provides the 192 mountain-kua configurations under Eight Mansions doctrine.
How do I compute my personal kua?
Personal kua is computed from birth year (using the lunar new year boundary, not the Gregorian Jan 1) plus gender. Different formulas apply to men and women, and the result maps to one of 8 trigrams: 1 Kan, 2 Kun, 3 Zhen, 4 Xun, 6 Qian, 7 Dui, 8 Gen, 9 Li (there is no Kua 5; people whose computation yields 5 use Kua 2 if male or Kua 8 if female). The kua-derivation formula is part of the audit skill that consultation provides; this directory describes what each kua means once it has been determined.
What is the relationship between Eight Mansions and Xuan Kong Flying Star?
Both are classical feng shui systems used together in modern Singapore / Hong Kong / Taiwan practice, but they read different layers. Eight Mansions is property-facing-oriented and per-occupant-kua-keyed; it reads the same way for a given property + person across all years (the building’s mountain-kua compatibility doesn’t change). Xuan Kong Flying Star is period-chart-oriented and time-keyed; it reads how the property’s build-year period chart interacts with the current 20-year period (we are currently in Period 9, 2024-2043) and the annual flying stars. A complete audit reads both systems together. This directory covers the Eight Mansions layer; the 9 Periods reference covers the Xuan Kong layer.
FENG SHUI AUDIT
Get a chart-aware feng shui reading for your specific home.
Master Sean Chan’s feng shui audit reads your specific property: precise compass-degree facing, the period chart (Xuan Kong), per-occupant kua, and the integration of all four — including which of the 24 mountains your facing actually lands on. Zero generic advice — every audit is property-specific.
Master Sean Chan’s feng shui house-hunt service reads candidate properties before you commit, identifying which of the 24 mountains each property faces, the period chart, and the per-occupant kua compatibility — before the down-payment is non-refundable.
Master Sean Chan’s Feng Shui Masterclass covers compass-reading procedure, Eight Mansions doctrine, kua derivation, and Xuan Kong period charting in practitioner depth. Teaches the methodology these reference pages deliberately omit.
