1. Day Master in season. The same Yang Earth Day Master born in different months reads very differently. The month branch determines whether the Day Master is “in season” (得令), “out of season” (失令), or in transitional position. A Yang Earth born in the season that feeds earth reads as a strong Day Master with surplus to spend on demanding industries; the same Yang Earth born in the season that controls earth reads as weak, with the chart’s industry-fit calculus inverting accordingly.
2. Heavenly stems vs Earthly branches. A career-fit reading does not stop at the Day Master’s heavenly stem. The earthly branches across all four pillars carry hidden stems (人元) that contribute to the chart’s elemental balance. A Day Master that looks weak on the surface stems can be revealed as strong by hidden-stem support; the opposite case is equally common. The full reading layers stems, branches, hidden stems, and the seasonal modifiers together — not the Day Master in isolation.
3. The Useful God (用神) determines what the chart needs. Classical doctrine identifies a Useful God — the elemental register the chart is short on or over-supplied with — that determines which industries restore balance and which exacerbate the imbalance. The Useful God reading is the gate through which the entire industry-fit calculus passes. Two Yang Earth Day Masters with different Useful Gods may have opposite recommended industries.
