Its primary flavour is Yang Earth, and as a “dry earth” it carries hidden stems 戊 (Yang Earth), 辛 (Yin Metal), and 丁 (Yin Fire). At the Year Pillar, 戌 brings late-autumn ground holding remnants of summer Fire deep inside.
The classical reading consideration is whether 戌’s hidden Fire stays dormant or surfaces — it surfaces under specific combinations that the rest of the chart triggers. 戌 is a tomb branch storing Fire’s residue.
