Qi Men Dun Jia (奇門遁甲) — Classical Reference Library 奇門遁甲 · The Mysterious Gates Hiding Stems

奇門遁甲 (Qi Men Dun Jia, “the Mysterious Gates Hiding Stems”) is one of the Three Styles (三式) of classical Chinese metaphysics — alongside Da Liu Ren (大六壬) and Tai Yi Shen Shu (太乙神數). Originally a military strategy system, today QMDJ is widely used for timing decisions — when to act for a specific purpose. This reference library covers all 9 stars + 8 gates + 8 spirits + 9 palaces + 9 stems, the 72 Gate × Palace and 81 Star × Palace pairings, 10 application purposes, and 10 classical formations.

Overview: classical Qi Men Dun Jia

This is the master directory for the Qi Men Dun Jia classical reference library. 奇門遁甲 is the most practical of the Three Styles (三式) — used in everyday Chinese metaphysics practice for timing decisions: when to act, when to wait, which direction to face, what kind of action will succeed.

Voice constraint: these pages name the components, classical formations, and application patterns. They do not teach the chart-casting procedure (the dun-period determination, the heaven/earth board rotation, the 三奇六儀 distribution rule). For chart-aware reading of a specific question, book a QMDJ forecasting consultation; for self-study, use the free QMDJ calculator.
