Detriment is the sign opposite a planet’s domicile; the planet operates without essential dignity, hosted by a sign whose ruler is its functional opposite. The Sun (hot, dry, diurnal, individual sovereign) finds himself in Aquarius, the fixed-air sign of Saturn (cold, dry, structural, collective). The mismatch is doctrinal: the Sun’s personal-authority register is hosted in a sign whose principle is the abstraction of authority into the system or the movement.

The classical register is ideological sovereignty — the leader of platforms rather than parties of personality, the founder of movements that name the cause rather than the founder, the authority figure whose power comes from the abstract idea they advance. But the sect alignment is favourable here (the Sun is diurnal sect leader, Aquarius is a diurnal sign), which softens the debility somewhat — the Sun keeps his preferred chart-time even while operating in the sign of his weakest essential dignity.
