2027 Chinese Zodiac Forecasts — The Rotation Table, The Twelve Stars, And The Honest Reads
The 2027 forecasts every other site is either too lazy to fact-check or too dependent on amulet revenue to write honestly. The 丁未 Dīng Wèi year pillar is below. The classical 12-Year-Star rotation table is below. The four-check method for reading any star against any chart is below. Twelve sign-by-sign forecasts — honest, sign-specific, structurally grounded — are linked below. None of it includes a Pi Xiu bracelet upsell.
The year pillar · 2027 in three paragraphs
2027 is 丁未 Dīng Wèi — Yin Fire on Yin Earth, fully yin throughout
The 2027 year pillar (effective from 立春 / Beginning of Spring on February 4, 2027) is 丁未 Dīng Wèi: the heavenly stem is 丁 (Yin Fire) — refined, focused, candle-like; the earthly branch is 未 (Sheep) — yin Earth on the surface, holding hidden 己 (Yin Earth) + 丁 (Yin Fire) + 乙 (Yin Wood). All three hidden stems are yin. The pillar is structurally stable (Fire-stem rooted in branch’s hidden Fire) and fully yin top-to-bottom — one of the most introspective year-pillar configurations in the 60-year cycle.
2027 in plain language
A “tend the small fire” year — refinement, depth, focused continuation
丁未 favours: refined craft, traditional structures, group-oriented work, slow burns, deep contemplative practice, scholarly or artistic depth. The yin-throughout pillar rewards careful, patient work and disfavours bombast or yang-style breakthroughs.
Pop forecasts will translate this as “a year of transformation and spiritual growth.” The classical reading is more concrete: 2027 is structurally cooperative for charts that need Fire (especially Wood and Earth Day Masters in cold-month configurations) and structurally taxing for charts already over-Fired (Yang Fire summer Day Masters). Whether 2027 is “your year” depends on your full chart, not on your sign.
Below are the two classical rotation systems that determine which auxiliary stars sit on which sign in 2027 — the same tables every practitioner since the Tang dynasty has consulted, the same tables almost no pop forecaster opens.
The 2027 12-Year-Star rotation table
Anchored at 太岁 = year branch (未). The table determines which star sits on which sign — printed in every classical Chinese metaphysics text for the last 800 years.

Four classical relationships · one umbrella name
What is 犯太歲 (fàn tài suì) — and which four signs it covers in 2027
犯太歲 (fàn tài suì) is the umbrella term in classical Chinese metaphysics for any branch standing in a structurally pressured relationship with the year-branch (太歲, the year-branch position). It does not mean “offending the Tài Suì deity” in the moral, transactional sense the retail apparatus has spent a century pretending it does. It names a relationship pattern. It does not name a market.
Four classical configurations sit under the 犯太歲 umbrella: same-branch (本命), direct opposition (沖), six-harm (害), and tri-punishment (刑). In 2027 (Wèi, Sheep year), all four are populated:
- Sheep — 本命 (běn mìng, year-branch self). The most concentrated of the four. The year-branch presses on whichever palace 未 occupies in the chart-holder’s full chart, creating identity-themed pressure for the calendar year. Sheep 2027 reading →
- Ox — 沖 (chōng, direct clash). Wèi-Chǒu, both Earth-element branches, is a storage clash — classically read as the year unlocking hidden stems in the affected palace, not as catastrophe. The Ox direction (Northeast) is the year-breaker in the feng shui chart. Ox 2027 reading →
- Dog — 刑 (xíng, three-punishment). Wèi-Xū-Chǒu (Sheep-Dog-Ox) is the classical Three Punishments — a triangular friction pattern, less direct than the Ox clash but more pervasive. Manifests as relational misalignment, not catastrophe. Dog 2027 reading →
- Rat — 害 (hài, six-harm). Zǐ-Wèi six-harm, the mildest of the four. Friction without collision — persistent low-grade pressure rather than acute event. Rat 2027 reading →
All four are real classical configurations described in metaphysics texts since the Han dynasty. None of them are products. The retail apparatus around 犯太歲 — jadeite pendants, paid temple rituals at $88/$288/$888 tiers, mastery courses, red underwear sold as protection — is 20th-century commerce wearing classical vocabulary. The classical move for any of the four is the same: read the chart, identify which palace your year-branch occupies, prepare for the structural pattern in that specific palace, and carry on. The amulet is a gift shop output. The structural reading is the work.
The four signs above each have their own page below. The reads are different by relationship type, and each page does the work of debunking the specific retail product targeted at that relationship.
The trinity rotation · the second system
The 亥卯未 Wood-trinity stars active in 2027
The trinity stars are anchored at the year branch’s three-harmony group. In 2027, the year branch is 未, the third leg of the 亥卯未 Wood Three-Harmony, so the trinity rotation places four stars across the trinity branches:
- 桃花 Táo Huā Peach Blossom → Rat (子)
- 驿马 Yì Mǎ Travelling Horse → Snake (巳) — yes, on Snake, not on Horse, despite the name
- 华盖 Huá Gài Canopy → Sheep (未)
- 将星 Jiāng Xīng General Star → Rabbit (卯)
The romance pair (红鸾 Hóng Luán + 天喜 Tiān Xǐ) follows its own rotation: in 未 years, 红鸾 sits on Monkey (申) and 天喜 sits on Tiger (寅). Anyone telling you the romance pair is on a sign other than Monkey/Tiger in 2027 has invented their own rotation table.

The four-check method — the analysis pop forecasts cannot perform
An auxiliary star is a flag, not a verdict. Every shénshā in classical BaZi is a positional marker attached to a branch via a published formula. The flag’s name (Death Tally, White Tiger, Year Star, Blessing Virtue) is medieval branding kept around because it is memorable. The flag’s effect is determined by the branch it sits on, the hidden stems inside that branch, and what those hidden stems do to the client’s Day Master in the context of the whole chart.
The branch — not the star — is the actual unit of analysis. Every Earthly Branch holds one to three hidden stems. Those hidden stems interact with the Day Master in one of five functional roles: Resource, Officer/Authority, Wealth, Output/Expression, or Peer/Companion. Each role has different implications. So a “dreaded” star sitting on a branch your chart structurally requires is productive; an “auspicious” star on a branch your chart can’t use is dead weight.
“The Nobleman star must rest on a Branch useful to the chart. A star sitting on a Branch your chart doesn’t need offers little benefit.” — from the BaZi auxiliary stars reference, repeating the consensus of every major classical text
Here is the four-check sequence a competent practitioner runs on every star activation. None of these can be performed from a year sign alone — they all require the full chart, which is exactly why pop forecasts skip them.
-
Which palace does the star’s branch occupy in this client’s chart?
Year palace = early life, parents, social position. Month palace = career. Day palace = self/spouse. Hour palace = children, late-life. Same star, four palaces, four different reading frames.
-
What hidden stems live in the branch the star sits on?
Each Earthly Branch holds 1–3 hidden stems. The hidden stems are what the star actually activates; the star itself is just the label.
-
What functional role do those hidden stems play against the Day Master?
Resource (feeds Day Master)? Officer (disciplines)? Wealth (consumes)? Output (Day Master’s expression)? Peer (same-element companion)? Five different functional readings per star.
-
Is the chart already balanced or imbalanced in that direction?
A chart starved of an element gets the activation as the year’s answer. A chart drowning in it gets the same activation as overload. Same star, opposite outcomes.
If a forecast hands you a star without performing these four checks, it isn’t a forecast. It’s a name on a piece of paper, sold at scale.

The Pre-Sold WindfallWhat this hub is, and what it isn’t
Disclosures the rest of the 2027 zodiac-forecast economy cannot afford to make
- This hub does not promise that 2027 will be amazing for any sign. The classical reading of 丁未 is “tend the small fire,” which favours focused depth and disfavours bombast — that’s the year-pillar reading, before the chart enters the picture.
- This hub does not promise that 2027 will be terrible for any sign. The clash signs (Ox), the punishment-cycle signs (Dog), and the Six-Harm signs (Rat) all have configurations where the year is structurally productive once the chart is read carefully.
- This hub does not gatekeep your fortune behind a $99 consultation upsell. The free BaZi calculator below does more than any prestige-sign-specialist forecast pipeline has ever done.
- This hub will not be a YouTube channel posting 12 separate videos with bright colour thumbnails titled “[SIGN] — YOUR 2027 FORECAST (REVEALED!)” with sponsored ad breaks for jade pendant retailers.
- This hub will not sell you a Pi Xiu (貔貅) bracelet, a jadeite mountain (玉山子), a benefactor-attracting ring (贵人戒), a Tài Suì amulet, a wealth bull, a three-legged toad, a crystal lotus, a bagua mirror, or any other resin object marketed as 2027-specific protection or activation. There is a section directly below explaining why none of them work.
- This hub will not be wrong about the year pillar. The year pillar is in fact 丁未 Dīng Wèi. We are confident about this one.
If any of the above sounds familiar, you have read a 2027 forecast hub before. The amulet was familiar too.
Required reading · the semiotics of feng shui retail
Pi Xiu, jadeite mountains, and the entire 2027 amulet pipeline that doesn’t work
Every feng shui object you have ever been sold — the Pi Xiu (貔貅) bracelet, the Pi Xiu figurine, the three-legged toad with a coin in its mouth, the wealth bull, the wealth ship, the crystal lotus, the jadeite mountain (玉山子), the benefactor-attracting ring (贵人戒), the Tài Suì amulets being sold to Sheep-born readers throughout 2027, the clash-year deflectors being sold to Ox-born readers, the White-Tiger amulets being sold to Rabbit-born readers, the punishment-year protections being sold to Dog-born readers — all works on the same logical move: a symbol of a thing is treated as if it can produce the thing. A figurine of a wealth-attracting mythological creature is sold as wealth-attracting itself. A jade pendant carved with your zodiac is sold as a structural enhancement. A bagua mirror “activated” by a master is sold as a deflector of shà qì. None of this is how classical Chinese metaphysics actually works.
Charts work. Stars work. Branches and stems work. Resin figurines from Yiwu — with all due respect to resin figurines — do not. The figurine is a signifier; the metaphysical effect is the signified; the entire industry is built on collapsing that distinction and selling you the gap. Sean has written a long-form essay on the precise semiotic mechanism, why the items are structurally empty, and why “activated by the master” is a marketing claim and not a metaphysical one. If anyone has tried to sell you a 2027-themed amulet, jade pendant, or activator object, the essay below is required reading.

Questions about the 2027 forecasts as a whole
What is Fan Tai Sui 2027 (犯太歲) and which signs are affected?
Fan Tai Sui 2027 (犯太歲, fàn tài suì) is the umbrella term in classical Chinese metaphysics for any branch in a structurally pressured relationship with the year-branch. Four classical configurations sit under it, and all four are populated in 2027: Sheep (本命, year-branch self — most concentrated), Ox (沖, direct clash — Wèi-Chǒu storage clash), Dog (刑, tri-punishment — Wèi-Xū-Chǒu), and Rat (害, six-harm — mildest). Fan tai sui is a relationship pattern, not a moral verdict; it is real classical doctrine but it is not a market — the retail apparatus around it (jadeite pendants, paid temple rituals, red underwear) is 20th-century commerce wearing classical vocabulary. The classical move is to read the chart, identify which palace your year-branch occupies, and prepare for structural shifts there. See the dedicated 犯太歲 2027 section above for the four relationships side-by-side.
How do I know which Chinese zodiac sign I am?
Your zodiac sign is determined by the year of your birth in the Chinese lunisolar calendar — specifically, the year branch (年支) at your birth date. The Chinese year doesn’t start on January 1; it starts at 立春 (Beginning of Spring), around February 4 each year. So if you were born in early January, your zodiac sign is the previous Chinese year’s sign, not the calendar year’s sign. The free BaZi calculator handles this correctly. Click your sign’s card above to read its 2027 forecast.
Why is the rotation table the right thing to fact-check forecasts against?
Because the rotation table is the actual classical formula that determines which star sits on which sign in any given year. It has been printed in Tongshu almanacs for at least 800 years. Pop forecasts that misplace stars (e.g., putting 龙德 Dragon Virtue on Dragons because the name contains “Dragon,” when in 2027 it actually sits on Tiger) have not opened the table. The table is freely available; opening it takes 30 seconds; the fact that working forecasters with millions of followers don’t do this tells you everything about the standard of care in contemporary annual forecasting.
Is 2027 going to be a good year or a bad year, overall?
Neither, on its own. 2027 is structurally introspective — the fully-yin 丁未 pillar favours depth, refinement, focused continuation, and disfavours bombast or yang-style breakthroughs. Whether that’s good news or bad news for any individual depends entirely on what their chart needs and what they’re trying to do. The signs whose year-branch relationships are cooperative (Pig, Rabbit, Horse, Sheep in some configurations) get a structural tailwind; the signs with adversarial relationships (Ox, Rat, Dog) get structural pressure that the chart determines how to use; the signs with no formal relationship (Dragon, Monkey, Rooster, Tiger, Snake) have years driven entirely by their full charts.
Why are these forecasts so different from the ones on other sites?
Because most 2027 forecasts on other sites are written from the year sign alone, with auxiliary stars deployed by archetype-matching rather than rotation-table consultation. The forecasts here use the full rotation table, the trinity rotation, the four-check method, and the explicit acknowledgement that whether any given star helps or hurts depends on the chart. Same data set; different methodology. The methodology is the difference.
Why are you so hostile to the rest of the zodiac forecast industry?
Because the industry takes a real, complex, classical system — BaZi, which actually works when used properly — and reduces it to one variable, then sells fear, flattery, and merchandise in volume. The full essay on annual zodiac forecast accuracy goes deeper. The 12 sign pages above each apply that argument to their specific sign, with sign-specific industry tropes roasted on each page.
How do I tell if a forecast was written by someone who actually knows BaZi?
Five tells. One: do they get the placements right? (Test: do they put 龙德 Dragon Virtue on Tiger, not Dragon, in 2027? Do they put 驿马 Travelling Horse on Snake, not Horse?) Two: when they get a placement right, do they then read it correctly — or do they read 桃花 as “guaranteed marriage” and 太岁 as “buy the amulet”? Three: do they ever say “depends on your chart”? Four: do they reference hidden stems, Day Masters, palaces, structural balance? Five: are they upselling an amulet, paid ritual, or course as the resolution? The fifth is the strongest signal: the resolution to a real BaZi reading is almost never something purchasable.
Where do I start if I want to learn this myself?
