Zhuge Liang (Kongming) exhausted his life force launching six massive military campaigns from Mount Qi to conquer Wei. Despite his absolute genius, he was fighting against the winds of fate and ultimately failed to achieve his grand vision before dying of exhaustion. It signifies heroic but incredibly difficult and often futile struggles.
