The Misunderstanding

Horary is not
fortune-telling.

Horary astrology is the oldest branch of Western astrological practice — a rule-based judgment system developed over 700 years for answering specific, well-formed questions. It is not a modern invention. It is not a personality reading. It is not vague prediction. Most of what the internet calls "horary" today has almost nothing to do with the classical tradition.

?

One Question, One Chart

Horary answers a single, specific question from a single chart cast at the moment the question was asked. Not a reading of your life. Not a general horoscope. One question, one judgment.

Classical Rules, Not Intuition

The judgment comes from explicit rules — significators, dignities, aspects, receptions, and strictures. The astrologer's personality and "vibes" do not enter the reading. The chart decides.

Strictures Against Judgment

Classical horary includes explicit rules for when a chart is not radical — not fit to be judged. A serious horary practitioner refuses to answer more questions than they answer. The modern "ask me anything" model is not horary.

📜

A 700-Year Tradition

Taught in an unbroken line from Guido Bonatti (13th century) to William Lilly (17th century) to Ivy Goldstein-Jacobson (20th century) to today. This course teaches the tradition, not a modern reinvention.

Prerequisites & Path

Before you begin
horary.

Horary is a specialty branch — a lateral extension from the natal foundations, not a continuation of them. Two of the three natal courses are required. One is not. Here's exactly what you need and why.

Sixteen modules. Ninety-six lessons.

The Methodology

Classical horary,
taught honestly.

"Horary" is one of the most abused words in modern astrology. This course teaches the actual classical tradition — the system Bonatti, Lilly, and Goldstein-Jacobson would recognize — not the "ask me anything about your love life" content that dominates social media.

✦  This Course
Teaches strictures against judgment — including when to refuse the chart
Built on explicit rules: significators, dignities, perfection, reception
Distinguishes between radical and non-radical charts
Classical tradition from 13th-century Bonatti through Lilly to modern practitioners
Ends with a full practitioner framework: consultation, ethics, boundaries, pricing
Five worked case studies including one that shouldn't be judged
✗  Most Online "Horary"
Treats horary as "ask any question and the chart will tell you"
Ignores strictures entirely or dismisses them as outdated
Uses modern keyword interpretations instead of classical rules
Reduces horary to romance questions and lost objects
Says nothing about the ethics of refusing to judge a chart
Skips the practitioner framework entirely

Classical judgment.
Taught with rigour.

I have spent over a decade dismantling the barrier between "ancient wisdom" and "modern logic." Since 2014, I have practiced metaphysics professionally, building a reputation for technical precision in BaZi, Zi Wei Dou Shu, Qi Men Dun Jia, and Western natal astrology — including classical judgment traditions like horary.

This course exists because horary is where the modern astrology market is at its weakest. Most online horary content is pop-psychology and wish-fulfillment wearing the costume of tradition. This course teaches the actual tradition — strictures, reception, perfection, refusal — the way it has been taught for seven hundred years.

By the end of this course you will not only know the rules of horary judgment — you will know when to refuse to judge, how to structure a consultation, and how to deliver an honest answer that serves the querent.

Common Questions

Before you
commit.

Horary astrology is a classical branch of Western astrology that answers a specific question using a chart cast at the moment the question was asked and understood. It has been practiced continuously from the 13th century (Guido Bonatti) through the 17th century (William Lilly) to today. Unlike natal astrology, which describes a life, horary answers one discrete question with one chart and one judgment. The rules are explicit and the answer is binary: yes/no, will/won't, found/lost.
Yes — Foundations of Natal Astrology (Level 1) and Deepening Your Practice (Level 2) are both required. Horary is built on planets, signs, houses, aspects, classical dignity, dispositors, and reception — the complete vocabulary of L1 and L2. Level 3 (Advanced Natal Techniques) is not required — it teaches time-based prediction (transits, progressions, returns), which is a different paradigm from horary's question-based judgment. You can take horary directly after completing L1 and L2.
No. Horary is a rule-based judgment system with explicit strictures, significators, and perfection conditions. The astrologer does not "feel" the answer — the chart decides it through applied classical rules. Horary also includes explicit rules for refusing to judge a chart (Module 07). A serious horary practitioner declines to answer more questions than they answer. The modern "ask me anything and I'll read it" model is not horary.
Natal astrology describes a whole life from a birth chart. Horary answers a single specific question from a chart cast at the moment the question was asked. Natal is descriptive; horary is decisional. Natal uses modern interpretive techniques; horary uses classical judgment rules. Natal is open-ended; horary is binary. A student can be excellent at one and know nothing about the other. This course assumes you already understand natal mechanics (from L1 and L2) and then teaches you the separate skill of horary judgment.
No. Horary has explicit rules for what makes a question suitable. Module 01 covers this: the question must be specific, important to the querent, not previously judged, and asked at a moment the querent can remember. Module 07 covers strictures against judgment — conditions where the chart itself signals that it cannot be judged (early or late Ascendant, Moon void of course, Saturn in the 1st or 7th, and others). Learning to recognize and refuse non-radical charts is as important as learning to judge the radical ones.
16 modules, 96 lessons, approximately 60,000 words of written content. The densest of all the specialty courses. A focused student could complete it in two to three months; a careful student in five to six. There is no deadline. You have lifetime access. Practice is what matters most — the material teaches the rules, but fluency comes from judging real charts.
Eight modules (9 through 14) cover practical application domains: relationships, career and money, lost objects and missing people, health and medical horary, advanced techniques, and timing events. Module 15 walks through five worked case studies including one that shouldn't be judged. Module 16 is the full practitioner framework — how to structure a consultation, receive a question, write a judgment, price your work, and set ethical boundaries. By the end, you will be able to take a real question and produce a real written judgment.
